I got one, as an antler, it was pretty easy, just broke off the fresh tip and cut a few sections out. I ended up grabbing and ripping it in to shreds (like you'd rip open into an envelope).
So, in the few “spare” moments I am not entertaining my two beautiful, rambunctious, boys, I can typically be found hunched over a sewing machine and/or covered in sawdust. All in the efforts to create a perfect balance of aesthetics and practicality in our home. I don't think HD would have sawdust lying around, I imagine it gets swept and bagged regularly. Alternatively, you can ask at your local coffee shop to see whether they'll save their coffee grounds for your compost. Oh, one more thing before you go… if you’ve recently attended an in-store Workshop at The Home Depot, we’d love to hear your thoughts!

You may be able to get planer shavings from a furniture/woodworking manufacturer, if you are lucky enough to have one local. OP's best chance to obtain high quality shavings would be to find an active woodturner, its amazing how much waste is produced when turning a bowl for example. Watch out for black walnut...most turners are aware of that. The waste off a lathe is preferable to sawdust, its going to be a known single type of wood. Always lots for the taking what a tree is being removed; OP should look at the free firewood ads on Kijiji. On each additional eligible item you buy from years-of-history.

The lowes across the street mixes all of their stuff together so that was a no-go. I also called other home depots and lowes further down the street from me and they said I could come grab their stuff, too... But I wanna test the first batch out first before I start collecting from them, too.

I just picked up a 40lb bag of pine pellets for $5 from the local Lowes . I've got 2 bags of it running with reishi right now, put a qt of spawn per bag with something like 4 or 5 qts of sub. They keep their sawdust from the wall saw thing separate from the other saws in the store, so I suspected that this sawdust might be alright to give a try. After reading up on here and elsewhere for a little while, I decided to inquire in my local home depot about their sawdust. I haven't really found any success stories besides RR's Reishis that he grew on plywood sawdust, but I figured I'd give it a shot. Will usually ship within 3 business days of receiving cleared payment. So with all that said, I really wanna know if I can use homedepot/lowes sawdust and I have everything I need to follow RR's tek from his video.
